As expected, the Texans placed Jerome Mathis on injured reserve Friday, according to the Houston Chronicle. He missed the last game with a hamstring injury that will now keep him out for the remainder of the season. Dexter Wynn will return kicks in place of Mathis.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said that Jerome Mathis will return kicks and see action on offense tomorrow, according to the Houston Chronicle. The Texans activated Mathis from the PUP list earlier this week. He's been recovering from foot surgery.

Jerome Mathis, who has not played this year after undergoing offseason foot surgery, returned to practice on a limited basis last week, but he still isn't making much progress, according to the Houston Chronicle. "Right now, it doesn't look like he's ready to cut it loose," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I see some limping in what he's doing. Next Tuesday, the Texans have to decide whether to activate him or place him on IR.

The Texans have to decide next week whether they'll activate Jerome Mathis or place him on IR, according to the Houston Chronicle. He's recovering from offseason foot surgery. Mathis did return to practice last week, but he wasn't able to do much. "If I had to make a decision on what I saw last week, I would say no, I don't think he's ready to go," coach Gary Kubiak said. "But if he makes that same amount of progress this week, I think that decision will be harder. But he still has another step to take."

Pro Bowl returner Jerome Mathis was able to practice fully yesterday for the first time since being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot during the preseason, according to the Houston Chronicle. He's still out for this week, but if all goes well, he could make his season debut in Week 12.

Jerome Mathis is expected to miss at least the first month of the season, according to the Houston Chronicle. The kick returner still is recovering from offseason surgery that repaired a stress fracture in his left foot.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Jerome Mathis has a stress fracture in his foot and will undergo surgery on Friday. Mathis will need at least fourth months to recover. Head coach Gary Kubiak said that he hoped Mathis could return around Week 5 or 6. Mathis led the NFL with a 28.6 yard average on kickoff returns last season and had two kick return touchdowns.
