Brandon Jacobs limped off the field with an apparent left leg injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Bills. He had 18 carries, 111 yards, and two scores at the time. Ahmad Bradshaw took his place.

Brandon Jacobs carried the ball 22 times for 70 yards and caught three passes for 11 yards in his return to action Sunday. He also lost a pair of fumbles. It wasn't a great performance, but the fact that Jacobs received so much work and made it through the game unscathed is a positive sign.

Brandon Jacobs was "very limited" in practice on Wednesday and isn't eager to test his sore hamstring. "I'm not going to push myself as much as I can, because it's a hamstring and you never know," he tells the New York Post. "You come back too soon you can hurt it more and be out for the next four weeks." Jacobs then added, "I feel very good about my chances of playing this weekend." Since Derrick Ward was limited in Friday's session by ankle and groin injuries, Reuben Droughns likely will be the Giants' starting running back Sunday with rookie Ahmad Bradshaw pitching in.

Brandon Jacobs has a pulled left hamstring that will leave him doubtful for next Sunday’s game against the Vikings. Jacobs pulled up lame against the Lions this weekend, and did not return to the game. Reuben Droughns will pick up most of the carries next weekend, and Ahmad Bradshaw should get some work as well.

Unable to throw the ball in the rain Sunday, the Giants rode Brandon Jacobs to a win versus the Dolphins in London. Jacobs rushed for 131 yards on 23 carries, marking the third time he's topped 100 yards in his four games since returning from a knee injury.

Brandon Jacobs was able to play through his sprained ankle on Sunday, and he had a big day. The running back tallied 107 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and caught three passes for 16 yards. He has a nice matchup against the Dolphins next week, followed by a Week 9 bye.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is pleased with how the combined backfield of Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward fared in Week 5. “As I have said many times, the more good football players you can have, the better off you are going to be,” Coughlin tells the team's official web site. “I thought yesterday Derrick Ward’s first half was very good and the experience he had with the ankle that kind of set him back and hobbled him up a little bit. I thought that Brandon’s second half was strong. So the combination worked very well." The Giants running backs rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns against the Jets.

Brandon Jacobs looked great in his return from a sprained knee Sunday. He racked up an even 100 yards on 20 carries and scored once. Backup Derrick Ward was remained involved, rushing 13 times for 56 yards and a score, but Jacobs will be the primary option going forward, so long as he stays healthy.

Brandon Jacobs practiced fully on Wednesday and declared himself ready for Week 5. He also appears to be willing to share carries with Derrick Ward. "Just look around the league," Jacobs tells the New York Daily News. "Every team has two backs. D-Ward is a very good back. We're going to utilize both of us when things are right... We have no selfish people in our backfield - none whatsoever. I would love to get 40 carries and run for daylight every time, but that's not the way it goes. It's a long season and I'm trying to have a long career."

Brandon Jacobs made it through a couple of days of practice this week. However, he's not quite ready to return to action on Sunday, according to the New York Daily News. "They want to make sure things are right, which I don't blame them," Jacobs said. "I'm not holding it against them because they're holding me out for this week. I want to play, but it's a long season." Derrick Ward missed practice Friday to rest his sore ankle, but barring a setback, he should be ready to play Sunday, allowing Jacobs to focus on getting heatlhy for the next game.

Tom Coughlin will hold his usual press conference on Monday afternoon and hopefully confirm any diagnosis and clear up how his backfield could move forward with Derrick Ward and/or Reuben Droughns.

Brandon Jacobs was diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his right knee after being knocked out of Sunday's game. He's scheduled for an MRI on Monday, according to the New York Daily News. Once the MRI is examined, we should hear a timetable for his return, but it seems unlikely that he will be ready for a full load in Week 2. Derrick Ward picked up 89 yards on 13 carries in Jacobs' absence and is worth picking up in all leagues to see if he gets the bulk of work if Jacobs is out for a while.

Brandon Jacobs knows he has the skills to be a 300-carry player, and he's not listening to critics who think otherwise. "I don't give a damn what people say," Jacobs tells the Newark Star-Ledger. "I have talent, I can catch the ball, I can run with it. I don't have to run somebody over all the time. I actually am a running back." The article also notes that Jacobs spent the offseason working with trainer Joe Carini, the man lauded for turning Tiki Barber from a change-of-pace back into a full-time stud. Larry Johnson also trained with Carini this offseason.
