ESPN.com reports that quarterback Andrew Walter will start against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Starter JaMarcus Russell is battling knee tendinitis.

Andrew Walter continues to perform well, as he completed 10-of-12 passes for 82 yards in Saturday's exhibition against the 49ers, according to the SF Chronicle. Coach Lane Kiffin said, "Anytime someone plays that well, especially at that position, it builds your confidence in him. Andrew has gone through a lot, and I think it made him stronger."
