Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips once again deflected questions on Monday about Marion Barber being the backup to the less-productive Julius Jones. The coach isn't ready to make a change. "I see everybody's point that Marion's doing some great things for us and that's what we hoped he'll do," Phillips tells the team's official web site. "But (Jones) is doing some good things for us, too. And we're featuring (Barber) on the 1-yard line. You're going to get more touchdowns when you get it on the 1. But we feel like he's strong in that already and he's proven that already. He's done it last year. But I think it's working the way we're doing it."

Marion Barber had a bigger day than Julius Jones on Sunday night, but Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips isn't about to overturn his backfield and hand all the carries to Barber. "I think each game certainly is different," Phillips tells the Dallas Morning News. "As far as you know what plays are drawn, they run different plays and it's a different offense when the other one is in there." Barber adds, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Marion Barber would like the be the starter, but he understands that won't necessarily be the case this year. "Everybody wants to start, you can't just settle for whatever," Barber tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "You want to be the best that you can be. You have to seize the opportunity when it comes. I just have to sit tight and be ready." He also adds, "If you are not motivated to start or train yourself like you are going to start, you shouldn't be playing. But you have to know your role. I just try to be ready when they call my name." The Cowboys plan to employ a two-back system in 2007.

Marion Barber was hardly used in the final Cowboys game of the year, touching the ball just six times in Saturday's playoff loss at Seattle. Barber had just four yards on three rushing attempts, though he did catch three passes for 23 yards.
