In his quest to prove that he will not be a bust, the Saints game against the Texans loomed large for Reggie Bush because he would be taking the field against the player he will always be compared to - Texans DE Mario Williams. Alas, that will not happen, because Bush will not play in the game due to swelling in his left knee, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Reggie Bush expects big things from himself this season according to the AP. "I definitely feel like I have something to prove this year, more so than the maybe the past two years, just because I didn’t have a great season last year," Bush said after a recent practice at Saints training camp. After months of legal wrangling, running back Reggie Bush finally will have to testify under oath about allegations that he received $291,000 in illegal cash and benefits from San Diego businessman and fledgling sports marketer Lloyd Lake, according to USA Today. Superior Court Judge Joan Lewis has ordered Bush to give his deposition June 23, LaMar Griffin on June 27 and Denise Griffin on June 30. Lewis denied Bush's request to have armed security at the depositions. Furthermore, Lewis denied Bush's request for his deposition to remain confidential, which means it could be released to the NCAA and the news media. If Bush admits wrongdoing while he was a student-athlete, it could have major repercussions for USC's football program. "We're very pleased the judge put a stop to Bush's ducking and dodging," said Brian Watkins, Lake's lawyer. Lake's deposition is scheduled for June 5 and 6.

Reggie Bush is impressed by fellow New Orleans star Chris Paul, and he is itching to have an MVP-type season of his own. "I've got to come out and have an equal or better year," Bush tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "I've had plenty of time to reflect (on 2007). I missed the last four games. That really hurt me because I never really had to miss any games before. I had a lot of time to think and just go through what approach I want to take this year and how I want to go about this year and getting to that elite level of athletes."
March 17, 2008
Reggie Bush is expected to take part in off-season workouts, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. It's important for him, especially with running backs and the pounding they take to be real diligent in the weight room."

Reggie Bush was scheduled to testify in San Diego in a civil lawsuit brought against him by New Era Sports financier Lloyd Lake, according to Yahoo! sports. Bush, who allegedly owes Lake nearly $300,000, doesn't want his deposition to be made available to the media and the NCAA. “It’s so that we can’t share the transcripts with the NCAA, which is a huge admission of guilt,” said Lake’s attorney, Brian Watkins. “Reggie Bush has repeatedly said that he has nothing to hide, and now that he has to testify under oath, he’s saying he doesn’t want what he says shared with the NCAA. Now all of the sudden it’s ‘Hey I’m going to have to admit to some things and I don’t want them out there." Lake contends that Bush and his family owes him $291,000 as a part of a plan to hatch a sports agency around the star running back. If Bush is found guilty, he could be stripped of his Heisman Trophy and USC's 2004 National Championship would come under heavy scrutiny.
