Reggie Bush, still recovering from a partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, has been ruled out for this weekend's matchup with the Bears, according to the AP. Aaron Stecker, who has been filling in for Bush, has missed practice this week with a sprained toe and was excused from practice Friday because of a death in the family. He is listed as questionable, which means Pierre Thomas could end up starting at running back.

If you've made it to your finals, you should have a safer play than Bush, even if he manages to suit up for the game.

Friday's practice is a key one for Bush, who's eager to get back on the field and help the Saints try to sneak in the playoffs. Of course, Aaron Stecker owners would prefer that Bush stay in street clothes for two more weeks.

Saints running back Reggie Bush returned to practice on Wednesday, which is amazing considering two weeks ago he was told that he had a partially torn left PCL. Head coach Sean Payton told media members that Bush intended on practicing this week in hopes of playing this Sunday against the Eagles.

"He's a tougher kid than people realize, but it was only getting worse. At this point, he's just really beaten up. "Bush has been diagnosed with a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament. Luckily, though, the injury won't require surgery. With Bush out, Aaron Stecker figures to get the bulk of the work in New Orleans' backfield.

Reggie Bush has officially been declared out for Monday's game with Atlanta, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Bush won't make the trip to Atlanta. Instead, he will travel to Birmingham, Ala., to meet with renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews for further examination of the torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Aaron Stecker will start in place of Bush, and Pierre Thomas will also get work.

Saints head coach Sean Payton has not ruled out playing Reggie Bush on Monday night despite confirming reports that the second-year running back has a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. “If you study the history of PCL injuries, I know they vary with each player, but it is an injury that you can come back from,” Payton told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “We’ll see. We’ll monitor where he’s at. You know, I’m still hopeful for this weekend’s game.” Bush practiced on Thursday and experienced some soreness.

Reggie Bush owners were probably less than thrilled to see that Aaron Stecker received 12 carries to Bush's 10 Sunday. However, there's no need to worry, as Stecker received nine of those carries in the fourth quarter after the game was already well in hand. Bush outgained Stecker 64 to 35 on the ground despite getting fewer attempts. He also had 49 yards on seven receptions.

As expected, Reggie Bush handled nearly all of the running back duties Sunday in the Saints' first game since losing Deuce McAllister for the remainder of the season. Bush had 21 carries for 67 yards and caught nine passes for another 52 yards. Aaron Stecker had just four carries, though Mike Karney scored the Saints only touchdown on a two-yard run. Look for Bush to continue handling the vast majority of the backfield load the rest of the season.

"I hate that it came off of such a big loss for us in Deuce, but I feel confident in myself that I'll be able to carry the load and make up for what we're losing with Deuce," Bush told the AP. "I feel like we won't miss a beat."
