Vince Young will have his jersey number retired at the University of Texas, according to ESPN.com.

Third-year quarterback Vince Young is on the hot seat this year, and will be learning a new offense for the third time in four seasons. The offensive rookie of the year in 2006 struggled in his second season throwing nine touchdown passes and 17 interceptions. Tennessee has a new offensive coordinator and new additions on both sides of the ball so expecting a repeat of a surprising 2007 campaign is optimistic at best.

A recent NFL.com report suggesting that quarterback Vince Young considered retirement after one season was blown out of proportion, according to The Tennessean. I was never going to quit football, Young said. Football, that is my pride and joy, it is my dream. I am playing my dream. And I dont plan on giving that up any time soon.

Vince Young told NFL.com that he considered retiring during training camp last summer. "I really thought long and hard about it," Young said. "There was so much going on with my family. It was crazy being an NFL quarterback. It wasn't fun anymore. All of the fun was out of it. All of the excitement was gone. All I was doing was worrying about things. My teammates helped lift me out of it. I prayed really hard. And I began to focus on God's calling for me. Play football. Be a role model."
