DeShaun Foster got the start for the Panthers again Sunday, but it was DeAngelo Williams who starred, carrying the ball 20 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Williams was more involved as the season wore on, and he should have a good shot at starting next season.

DeAngelo Williams was a pre-game scratch for Carolina's preseason opener Saturday. He's dealing with an ankle injury. The Panthers were able to run the ball effectively without Williams, with DeShaun Foster (five carries, 62 yards), Nick Goings (11 carries, 50 yards) and Eric Shelton (seven carries, 27 yards) all having their moments.

DeAngelo Williams wasn’t the starting running back during Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage, but he saw time on the team’s first offensive series. According to the Gaston Gazette, it was Williams who saw action at the goal line, taking two carries from the one-yard line and getting stuffed on both attempts.
