Coach Mike Shanahan believes Jay Cutler is making strides after his first two NFL starts, according to the Denver Post. "He's further ahead than anybody I've ever been around," Shanahan said. "One of the reasons why he's in the position he's at is because we thought that he could handle the mental aspects. He could handle the pressure, he could handle the tough situations."

In his NFL debut against Seattle, Jay Cutler completed just 10-of-21 passes for 143 yards, while throwing two TDs and two INTs and also losing a fumble. Cutler tied the game for the Broncos with a 71-yard TD pass to Brandon Marshall with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but Seattle's Josh Brown ultimately kicked a 50-yard field goal with five seconds left to win the game for the Seahawks.

Jay Cutler was officially named Denver's starting quarterback for the rest of the year Monday, the AP reports. Cutler's first start comes Sunday night against Seattle. Cutler was the 11th overall pick in April's draft and he was impressive in the preseason, throwing for 561 yards.

Jay Cutler is expected to take over as Denver's starting quarterback in Week 13, replacing Jake Plummer, according to the Denver Post. The Broncos will take advantage of their long break between Thursday's loss and Sunday night's game against the Seahawks to prepare the rookie for his debut.

Coach Mike Shanahan has stated that Jay Cutler won't play against the Colts this week, but he didn't rule anything out after that, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "When we do make a decision, we make a decision in the best interest of our organization," Shanahan said. "I will tell you this, that Jake Plummer will be our quarterback against Indy. Then I'll get a chance to be on this little program again (next week) and we'll talk about the same thing."

Jay Cutler was outstanding in his NFL debut in Friday's preseason opener. Cutler completed 16-of-22 passes for 192 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Jay Cutler signed a six-year deal with the Broncos on Thursday. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but it's reportedly worth up to $48 million. Cutler is expected to win the backup QB job behind Jake Plummer.
