Santonio Holmes is in line to start Sunday against Baltimore, though Cedrick Wilson is also expected to play a lot, Bill Cowher told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. None of these guys look like ideal fantasy plays, as the Raven defense has been one of the hardest to throw on all year (in part because of the secondary, in part due to the pass rush).

If Hines Ward returns this weekend and Cedrick Wilson is still out, then Santonio Holmes will start at wide receiver, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The reasoning here is that Wilson is the split end, and Holmes is his backup. Meanwhile, Ward plays flanker, and Nate Washington is his backup in addition to his role as No. 3 receiver.

Despite two more fumbles on special teams last week, rookie wide receiver Santonio Holmes might be back as a punt returner against the Saints, Bill Cowher told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Thursday. At this point Cowher is probably going to use Holmes on just punts, handing the kickoff-return chores to someone else.

Santonio Holmes had the best game of his young career Sunday, catching five passes for 91 yards. Holmes did lose a fumble on the day.
October 11, 2006
Santonio Holmes began alternating every two series with Cedrick Wilson last Sunday in San Diego, and coach Bill Cowher said Tuesday that the two receivers would continue to share playing time in the future, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "What he's done has merited that approach," Cowher said of Holmes.

Santonio Holmes was able to practice Friday but remains questionable for Pittsburgh's home game with Cincinnati Sunday. Holmes is battling a foot injury.
August 25, 2006
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Santonio Holmes won't start this year unless some injuries occur to the Steelers' other wide receivers. Holmes, who has had a pretty disappointing camp thus far, is No. 4 or 5 on the depth chart. "It was very tough mentally," Holmes said of his first pro camp. "My body took a beating at the start, but toward the end, I started to work a little harder, started to relax a lot more because I learned the system more."
August 13, 2006
Santonio Holmes caught four passes for 32 yards in the preseason opener for the Steelers. Head coach Bill Cowher told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he was happy with the play of both Holmes and fellow rookie Willie Reid. "I thought they did some good things. I think both those kids will get better and better. I was pleased from the sideline watching it. I think Santonio made some nice catches in the first half. I'm very pleased with it."
