Santonio Holmes has only played in four series' in the preseason with Ben Roethlisberger, but has already hauled in two touchdowns on three catches (with an average of 24 yards per reception), according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Th chemistry between Holmes and Roethlisberger never has been better. In the first game against Philadelphia, Roethlisberger sensed a blitz, and Holmes knew what his quarterback wanted to do, even though it wasn't in the playbook. Instead of running a slant, Holmes stayed put near the sideline on the left. Roethlisberger scrambled quickly that way, fired him a strike, and Holmes left a safety flat-footed on his way to a 19-yard touchdown. His other touchdown covered 40 yards against Buffalo. Holmes said, "Ben trusts me. I trust him to put the ball where it's supposed to be. It's just working together. I understand where he's going to be; he understands what I'm looking for. We put a lot of work in this offseason, just him and me on the field."

Santonio Holmes was quiet for most of Saturday's loss to Jacksonville, as he struggled to shake free of Rashean Mathis. The only important play Holmes made was a 37-yard touchdown catch-and-run in the fourth period, but for the rest of the game he netted just two receptions for 12 yards.
