December 24, 2007
Brodie Croyle was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Lions due to an injured throwing hand. X-rays were negative, and coach Herm Edwards said Croyle would start in the regular-season finale if physically able, according to the KC Star. He was having trouble gripping the ball after sustaining the injury, so he'll have to get beyond that if he wants to play in Week 17.

The Chiefs have named Brodie Croyle as their starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Broncos, the Kansas City Star reports. Croyle missed Week 13 due to a sore back but has practiced the last two days. He's not worth using in fantasy leagues.

Brodie Croyle (back) had a full day Thursday and looks like a safe bet to start Sunday at Denver. He did not play last week.
December 6, 2007
Brodie Croyle practiced on Wednesday and wants to start on Sunday against the Broncos. He did not play in Week 13 due to a sore back. “I feel like I’ll be ready to go,” he tells the Kansas City Star. “Whether they clear me, that’s another matter. Hopefully, I’ll come in (today) and tell them it feels great after a day’s worth of practice, and we’ll be ready to go.” Damon Huard would start if Croyle were out again.
December 5, 2007
The Chiefs aren't sure if Brodie Croyle will be able to return for Sunday's game against the Broncos. He did not play in Week 13 due to a sore back. "If he can’t protect himself or if he feels he’s not mobile enough to get out of the way, there’s no need to play him this week," head coach Herm Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. "You don’t want to put him in there wounded. That’s not fair to him." Damon Huard would start if Croyle were out.
December 3, 2007
Brodie Croyle said he intends to return to action Sunday after missing Week 13 due to a back injury. "There’s no doubt in my mind," he said, according to the KC Star. However, he also admitted that he would "have to get cleared. I have to pass all the stuff. Hopefully we’ll get cleared to go." Whether he's able to practice this week will be the best indicator as to whether he'll play this weekend.
December 1, 2007
The Chiefs won't have Brodie Croyle at the helm for Sunday's game. He's officially been ruled out for the contest due to his injured back, according to the KC Star. That means Damon Huard will be back under center when Week 13's game gets underway.
November 29, 2007
Brodie Croyle (back) sat out another practice Thursday and looks very questionable for Sunday's game with San Diego. Damon Huard will get the call if Croyle can't go.
November 28, 2007
Quarterback Brodie Croyle sat out of Wednesday’s practice with a sore back, and his status for this weekend’s game against San Diego is now unclear. Croyle was kicked in the back during last week’s loss to the Raiders, but managed to play through the injury.
November 18, 2007
Brodie Croyle wasn't able to pull off the upset of the Colts in his first start, but he certainly didn't embarrass himself. The second-year signal caller completed over 70 percent of his passes (19-for-27) for 169 yards and a TD with no interceptions. Don't expect Croyle to be much of a fantasy option down the stretch, but he should at least be able to hang on to the starting job.
November 12, 2007
Brodie Croyle will start at Indianapolis Sunday, the Kansas City Star reports. "You need a spark," head coach Herm Edwards said of his offense.
November 12, 2007
Brodie Croyle replaced an injured Damon Huard Sunday and completed 17-of-30 passes for 192 yards a touchdown and an inteception. While coach Herm Edwards had said that when he eventually made the switch to presumptive quarterback of the future, Croyle, that he'd stick with it. But on Sunday, he was non-committal, saying only that he would decide Monday who would start in Week 11, according to the KC Star. It would be surprising if if Edwards doesn't stick with Croyle, but time will tell.
September 16, 2007
Brodie Croyle replaced an ineffective Damon Huard in the fourth quarter Sunday for what turned out to be the Chiefs' final drive of the game. Croyle did all he could in the cameo appearance, completing all four of his pass attempts for 55 yards before Michael Bennett lost a fumble following Croyle's fourth completion. Huard hasn't played well to start off the year after narrowly beating out Croyle for the starting job this preseason, but it remains to be seen if the team will decide to hand the reins of the offense over to the youngster.
August 24, 2007
Brodie Croyle completed only five of his 17 passes for 45 yards against the Saints on Thursday night. He threw one interception, his third pick in as many preseason games. “I had a good opportunity to go out there and make my case to be the starter, and I didn’t do it,” Croyle tells the Kansas City Star. “I feel like I took a step back. I obviously played better last week. I’ve had better weeks in practice. Things just didn’t come together." Damon Huard did not play due to a sore right calf.
August 18, 2007
Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said he will wait until after Thursday's game to decide whether Brodie Croyle or Damon Huard will start the season opener. Croyle is expected to start Thursday and play at least the entire first half, according to the KC Star. Clearly, Edwards wants Croyle to step up and claim the job, because he has the long-term potential the veteran Huard lacks. Huard, though, is less likely to make boneheaded decisions that will lead to turnovers, a problem that Croyle has had in the first two games.
August 8, 2007
Brodie Croyle will start in Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns. Damon Huard will then start in the second game on August 16. “Brodie’s going to get more snaps in the preseason,” head coach Herm Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. “Why? Because Brodie’s a young quarterback, and Damon’s a veteran quarterback. He doesn’t need as many (snaps) as Brodie does.”
July 31, 2007
Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard are currently splitting reps with the first-string offense. "We’re splitting reps basically right down the middle. We split up days who is going with the ones and they won’t make a decision I wouldn’t think until the preseason is over," Croyle tells the team's official web site. Head coach Herm Edwards may have a different timeline. "I think you’ll see separation as we go through pre-season and the start of playing games," Edwards explains.
March 29, 2007
Herm Edwards will give Brodie Croyle much of the work in offseason practices and at training camp, in effect making the starting job his to lose, the Kansas City Star reports. The Chiefs also re-signed Damon Huard this offseason, and they're not expected to retain Trent Green.
