The Cardinals restructured Bertrand Berry's contract Wednesday, according to Sports Network. It's not clear what the new terms of the deal are, but he was due $4 million this year and would have been cut had he not agreed to reconfigure the deal.

The Arizona Cardinals are attempting to restructure the contract of DE/OLB Bertrand Berry in an effort to bring him back for the 2008 season, according to the East Valley Tribune. Berry, who has missed significant time during the past three seasons due to various injuries, has one-year left on his contract with a salary cap number of $5 million. The organization would save $4 million on this year's salary cap if they were to release him, but it sounds like both sides are amicable to a restructured deal.

Bertrand Berry, who was lost for the season in late November with a torn triceps muscle, said he expects to be 100 percent next season, according to the Arizona Republic. "It's a matter of taking time to rest, recharging the batteries and coming back and doing it again next year," he said. "There won't be any ill effects from this. I'll be ready to get back to helping the team win games."

Bertrand Berry will miss the Cardinals' remaining preseason games because of a left knee injury he suffered in Saturday's game against the Patriots, according to the Arizona Republic. Berry is still awaiting results of an MRI, but the initial diagnosis is there was no structural damage. "It's just a matter of resting it up and getting ready for the season," Berry said. "It's one of those things. You have to play through pain a little bit." Berry anticipates being ready for the regular season opener on Sept. 10.
