Kenny Irons suffered a torn ACL in Thursday's preseason opener and will miss the entire 2007 season. The team said in a news release Friday they expect Irons to make a full recovery and be ready for next spring's workouts. Irons, the team's second-round draft pick in April, dazzled during an intrasquad scrimmage and was expected to handle a few touches per game to lighten the load on Rudi Johnson. With both Irons and Chris Perry sidelined, Kenny Watson stands as Rudi's primary backup.

Kenny Irons was carted off the field in Thursday's gmae after suffering a knee injury. It's not clear yet how serious the injury is; he was on crutches after the loss at Detroit. Kenny Watson is the other backup runner of note in Cincinnati, with Chris Perry still battling health problems. We'll see what the team says on Irons in the next few days.
