Brady Quinn, without rocking the boat, is not approaching training camp like a guy resigned to being second string. He says he is looking forward to competing with Derek Anderson, according to USA Today. "That has to be my mindset going in regardless what people may say because if I'm not preparing that way I'm doing our team an injustice," said Quinn.

Cleveland general manager Phil Savage, whose moves have brought the Browns back to respectability, is close to signing a long-term contract extension with the club, according to NFL.com. Savage has two years left on a deal he signed in 2005, when he took over a talent-deprived roster that went 4-12. The Browns won 10 games last season and barely missed the playoffs. Although nothing is imminent, owner Randy Lerner said Tuesday that he and Savage have had on-and-off discussions on an extension since December and should have one finalized "soon."

Brady Quinn won't let Derek Anderson handle the starting job without a fight. Anderson recently signed a three-year, $24 million deal, but Quinn says he plans to compete for the top spot, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Brady Quinn denied a report that he was involved in an altercation in which homophobic remarks were made according to a report on the AP. "At no time that night was I involved in a verbal or physical altercation, nor did I have any interaction with the police," Quinn said in a statement. "I want to be clear that I did not engage in any of the alleged conduct, nor did I make inappropriate comments to anyone. Any allegations to the contrary are either untrue or the result of misidentification." The Browns are 100% behind Quinn who was certainly present when the altercation occurred, but apparently the earlier allegations directed at him about his involvement in the events previously reported may be inaccurate.

Brady Quinn was part of a rowdy group shouting insults at gay people outside of a Columbus bar on New YearÂ’s Day, according to the Plain Dealer. A 9-1-1 call (made by Seth Harris) was received by the police department who investigated the incident. "Brady Quinn from the Browns was trying to cause a fight." Harris told the operator, "I just walked outside and he exchanged many profanities with me and called me a faggot, of course."
