Dwayne Bowe was off to a nice start in the first three games of his rookie season, but he officially landed in Week 4. The former LSU Tiger grabbed eight passes for 164 yards and a TD in the win over San Diego. Bowe now has 299 receiving yards with three scores in the first four weeks.

Dwayne Bowe put together another solid performance for the Chiefs on Sunday, collecting five passes for 71 yards and his second TD of the year. The Chiefs have scored just two touchdowns in three games this year, and both belong to the rookie. Given Kansas City's anemic offense, Bowe's production will be inconsistent this year, but he's still a guy that should be owned in deep and keeper leagues.

Dwayne Bowe caught his first touchdown on Sunday, even though the pass was intended for a teammate. “He made a play,” tight end Tony Gonzalez tells the Kansas City Star. “He ran the wrong route, but I’m happy that he got his first touchdown, even if it might’ve been mine. He came out of nowhere and grabbed it." Bowe also provided a preview of Week 3, saying, "Next week, we’re going home, and it will be the D. Bowe show."

Dwayne Bowe was late to camp, but the missed time hasn't kept him from putting pressure on starter Samie Parker. The prevailing thought is that Bowe will take over the starting job, as soon as he shows signs of being ready. “It’s just a matter of Dwayne Bowe developing,” offensive coordinator Mike Solari tells the Kansas City Star. “He’s a playmaker. We’ve got to take advantage of that. He presents a problem on the football field (for opposing defenses) because of his size.”

Dwayne Bowe made his training camp practice debut on Monday. The first-round pick agreed to a deal on August 5, but he was relegated to individual conditioning work since that time. Bowe could see some action in Thursday's preseason game against the Dolphins. “We like what he did in the spring,” head coach Herm Edwards tells the Kansas City Star, “but he’s been away from it, so we’ll bring him along slowly.”

Dwayne Bowe may have finally agreed to a contract over the weekend, but that doesn't mean he's been thrown into the mix. Bowe remained out of practice on Wednesday as he continues to work on his conditioning, the Kansas City Star reports.

Dwayne Bowe didn't agree to a contract until Sunday, but he could still be a starter by week one. "Yeah, [he has] the potential," head coach Herm Edwards tells the team's official web site. "But when I look at starters those receivers to me are going to play in this system on a rotation [basis] with three or four of them. We want to keep them fresh. He has the ability to have a role but now he needs to stay healthy for one... From there, it’s just a matter of how quickly he learns." Bowe will not play in the preseason game on Saturday.

Dwayne Bowe agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Chiefs on Sunday, according to the AP. He was expected to arrive at training camp on Sunday night. Bowe may not have much fantasy value in his rookie season, but he could take over an aging Eddie Kennison as Kansas City's No. 1 receiver as soon as 2008.

Dwayne Bowe continues to miss training camp, the Kansas City Star reports. The 23rd overall pick has yet to sign a contract.
July 31, 2007
Contract discussions between the Chiefs and Dwayne Bowe have been slow, according to the Kansas City Star. Making matters worse, the Chiefs are apparently holding back on some parts of their offense until Bowe shows up. “When we get Dwayne Bowe in here, we’ll go more three (wide receivers) so we can (utilize) our playmakers,” quarterback Brodie Croyle admits.

First-round pick Dwayne Bowe will be expected to contribute right away. “He’s going to have to play, period,” Chiefs coach Herm Edwards told the Kansas City Star. “How much he plays, I don’t know that yet. He’s going to be in a rotation system. He brings a lot to the table. He does all of those dirty things wide receivers don’t want to. He’ll block. You can line him up in the slot and still run the ball. He’s not afraid to come across the middle.” Bowe will be competing with Jeff Webb and Chris Hannon for Samie Parker’s starting job, but between his ability as a receiver and the intangibles he brings to the position—plus the fact that at 221 pounds he’s the largest of KC’s wideouts and the Chiefs are still primarily a running team—you can expect him to be on the field plenty during his inaugural season.
