Selvin Young still has a ways to go to establish himself as the No. 1 running back. But the team is pleased with his offseason commitment to getting stronger and his determination to disprove the perception he's an injury-prone, change-of-pace runner, according to the Sporting News.

The tailback competition for the Denver Broncos will be one of the more interesting in training camp, but Selvin Young could make it a moot point if he has a great showing, according to USA Today. Young became the starter when Travis Henry was released, and took every snap as the top tailback during the team's final offseason camp.

The Denver Broncos recent mini-camp practices concluded with Selvin Young as the starting tailback, and Andre Hall and Michael Pittman next in the pecking order, respectively, according to the Denver Post.

Selvin Young sits atop the Broncos depth chart at running back, and he has added necessary weight this offseason. "Some guys can't handle more than 10 carries a game, but Selvin can," head coach Mike Shanahan informs the Denver Post. "He's going to have to get himself in excellent shape, but I'd like to see him handle it and get it done. When you're averaging over 5 yards a carry, we'd be crazy to take him out." Young is up to 212 pounds and able to lift a lot more in the weight room. Shanahan did add these cautious words, "We've got first-, second- and third-teamers, but just because you're first team doesn't mean you're going to stay first team."

Selvin Young thinks he can rush for 2,000 yards this season, according to the Star-Telegram. Young said, "People call me crazy. I got a lot of laughs, too, but I really think it's in me. I feel comfortable. I've gotten adjusted to this altitude. With that alone, I should be able to take more snaps a game. And it seems like they want to do a lot more things with me."
