The Cardinals project third round draft pick Early Doucet to be a slot receiver for them, according to The East Valley Tribune. He is not a speed burner or a home run threat, but he is a candidate to handle the number three receiver role in 2008. The team noted he would have been a first round pick if he didn't get banged up this past season at LSU, and offensive coordinator Todd Haley called him a valuable third or slot receiver.

Wide receiver Early Doucet showed the quick feet and sure hands to earn raves from scouts during positional drills, but his lack of top-flight athleticism showed up in his 40-yard dash during LSU’s Pro Day, according to USA Today. Doucet struggled in Baton Rouge, turning in times ranging from 4.59-4.69 in the 40-year dash in three attempts. Doucet has excellent hands and runs solid routes, both necessary traits to excel at the professional level. His lack of top end speed is a concern, but he remains one of the top-5 receivers in the 2008 class.
