Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat reported on Monday that the 49ers released quarterback Drew Olson and made a waiver claim on quarterback Kyle Wright. The Vikings waived Wright, an undrafted free agent, last week.

The Panthers released Drew Olson on Tuesday, according to the Charlotte Observer. He was signed to the practice squad last week to serve as an emergency quarterback due to the uncertain health status of David Carr and Vinny Testaverde.
