Olindo Mare hit four field goals in Week 3 against the Bears, but his head coach was more interested in the two tries that the kicker missed. "If you're a kicker in the National Football League you should make those kicks – bottom line. End of story. Period. No excuses. No wind, doesn't matter. You've gotta makes those kicks," Mora tells the Tacoma News Tribune. "We're not going to fight our ass off, and have a field goal kicker go out there and miss two field goals and lose a game. It's not going to happen."

Olindo Mare will start the season opener Sunday against the Bills, according to the Seattle Times. The team kept Brandon Coutu on the roster, and he did not miss a field goal attempt in the preseason, but the Seahawks opted to go with Mare for Week 1. Mare held an edge for the job as he gets better distance on his kickoffs, and he said, "I know it was good for me to have a guy like Brandon in camp. I'm sure experience has something to do with it, and I'm sure kickoffs had a lot to do with it."
