Ravens add C Birk to fold Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens agreed in
principle with free agent center Matt Birk on a three-year contract Wednesday.
A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Birk will officially sign on Thursday morning
and be introduced later in the day. Birk had spent his entire 11-year NFL
career with Minnesota and started each of the Vikings' games over the past
three seasons.
The 32-year-old has made 123 starts in 146 career games and will take over the
center position from outgoing Raven Justin Brown, who signed with St. Louis

Haloti Ngata was limited in practice for the third straight day Friday, according to the Ravens' official website. He is still recovering from his ankle ailment.
L.J. Smith is prepared to start at tight end this Sunday if Todd Heap is unable to go because of a chest injury, according to the Carroll County Times.
