Chris Perry, RB Saturday 5/10, 1:14 PM CT
Chris Perry is healthy and ready to play this season, and that is the reason why the Bengals didn't take a running back in the draft, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Keith Rivers, LB Monday 5/5, 12:47 PM CT
First-round draft pick Keith Rivers, a linebacker from Southern Cal, worked on the weak-side position - which he played in college - and impressed coaches with his fluid play and work ethic during the Cincinnati Bengals’ three-day (five practice) rookie minicamp this past weekend, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Coaches were impressed, too, with Rivers' natural leadership and ability to call his position players together. "He showed things that are innate," Lewis said. "Every time he was not in a meeting, he was upstairs watching tape on his own. He already gets it."
Chris Perry, RB Sunday 5/4, 6:23 PM CT
Head coach Marv Lewis expects Chris Perry to be on the field when the Bengals begins a voluntary minicamp on May 13, the team's official web site reports. He hasn't played since breaking his right fibula in November of 2006.
Edgerton Hartwell, LB Saturday 5/3, 10:30 AM CT
The Oakland Raiders have signed free-agent LB Edgerton Hartwell , formerly with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Keith Rivers, LB Friday 5/2, 9:14 AM CT
The Cincinnati Bengals are likely to give first-round pick Keith Rivers looks at both weak-side and middle linebacker, according to Pro Football Weekly. Rivers’ high skill level, strong character and advanced football intelligence have the Bengals thinking big things; the hope is that Rivers’ learning curve is accelerated because of these factors.
Ahmad Brooks, LB Thursday 5/1, 3:27 PM CT
Ahmad Brooks has been accused of punching a Florence woman in the face, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Brooks has been summoned to appear June 6 in Boone District Court to answer to the charges. Destiny Rosich gave a sworn statement Wednesday that Brooks was arguing outside her neighbor’s home on April 9. She said her children were outside playing and began to cry because Brooks and the neighbor were about to start a fist fight. Brooks reportedly told the neighbor that he was going to "split his head open." Rosich said she "nicely approached" Brooks to take it somewhere else but, "He then pulled back his fist and struck (punched) me in the left eye. I then fell and blacked out."
Anthony Schlegel, LB Thursday 5/1, 2:16 PM CT
Anthony Schlegel has been released by the Bengals, according to ProFootballTalk. Linebacker Roy Manning was also released.
