Broncos reshape front office Englewood, CO (Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos reshaped their football
operations staff Tuesday, naming Jim Goodman vice president of football
operations/player personnel and Brian Xanders assistant general manager.
Goodman served as the team's director of player personnel for the previous two
years and has worked in the Broncos' personnel department for the last 10
seasons. He will oversee the day-to-day football operations of the
organization and will continue to manage Denver's overall scouting process.

Defensive lineman Marcus Thomas was arrested for possession of a controlled substance on March 1, and on May 9, he was cleared of any charges, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Agent Richard Burnoski said, "Thomas was embarrassed by this. The people that supported him, the Broncos and coach Mike Shanahan, his family and a lot of the fans on the message boards, he thanks them. ItÂ’s good to be proven right."
John Lynch feels there is doubt among the Broncos' coaching staff that he can still play another season effectively in the NFL, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Lynch said, "I think there's a split among the staff. Some were happy for me to come back and some didn't say anything, which tells you something. I feel that Coach Mike Shanahan is in my corner, but there were some people who probably felt they were better without me." Lynch added, "I've never been afraid of competition. But it's a little different in that the last 12 years of my career, I've had a job and it was someone's job to come and beat me out. This year, I don't think at this position there are any jobs. There are four or five guys and they're saying, 'Have at it.' It kind of fires me up."
The Denver Broncos' interest in running backs Shaun Alexander and Dominic Rhodes remains in the preliminary stages, but if the organization were to bring in a veteran running back, they would likely have to part ways with veteran Travis Henry, according to ESPN.
