Lions sign RB Pinner Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions signed free agent
running back Artose Pinner to a one-year deal on Thursday. Additional
contract terms were not disclosed.
Pinner re-joins Detroit and will be playing his sixth season in the NFL.
He spent the first three seasons of his NFL career in Detroit, then played for
Minnesota in 2006 and Atlanta in 2007. Over 47 games, he has totaled 858 yards
and eight touchdowns on 250 carries. Also, he has hauled in 39 passes for 308

Brian Calhoun could be the Detroit Lions third-down back this season, according to MLive.com. The team doesn't consider him an every down back, but believe he can still be effective out of the backfield.
The shoulder that Ernie Sims had operated on in the off-season has bothered him over his last two seasons, according to MLive. The Lions defense has had trouble staying healthy, which forced Sims to stay on the field for almost every play, which led to the shoulder problem.
