Jeff Garcia, QB Wednesday 5/14, 1:14 PM CT
Owner Bruce Allen talked about Jeff Garcia's contract situation on Wednesday. He doesn't mind that the quarterback has been public about his issues with an expiring deal. "Each player has to handle his business how he sees fit," Allen tells the St. Petersburg Times. "Jeff, for the last five years -- it's been well-documented -- he's been with five teams. I know he enjoyed the great success with coach Gruden and wants that to continue. That's not bad news, that's good news. We've got seven months to free agency and we've got plenty of time."
Cadillac Williams, RB Tuesday 5/13, 4:20 PM CT
Cadillac Williams continues to work his way back from his patellar tendon surgery, according to the St. Petersberg Times. "It's a long progress, but I've come a long way," he said. "Earlier on, there were bumps in the road. But now, things are starting to smooth out. I'm starting to do things on the field, a little cutting here and there. I'm just taking it day by day, just continuing to work and seeing how the process goes. We're going to make a decision in July and take it from there."
Jovan Haye, DE Tuesday 5/13, 12:32 PM CT
Jovan Haye inked a one-year tender worth a little more than $2 million to remain with the Buccaneers, according to the Tampa Tribune. He was a restricted free agent.
Earnest Graham, RB Tuesday 5/13, 12:28 PM CT
Earnest Graham did not attend Tuesday's voluntary team workout, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Jeff Garcia, QB Tuesday 5/13, 12:24 PM CT
Jeff Garcia hinted that he may hold out if his contract demands are not met, according to the Tampa Tribune. Garcia said, "There might come a time when I might have to stand up. I hate to do that to jeopardize my teammates because they’re out here, and I don’t want to let them down in any sort of way. But at some point you just want to see the respect from up top." He is entering the final year of a two-year deal worth $7 million and is reportedly seeking an extension that will bring his total payout to the league average for starters, which is around $7 million.
Geno Hayes, LB Monday 5/5, 2:54 PM CT
Sixth-round draft pick Geno Hayes (Florida State) hopes to make an impact with the Buccaneers, according to the AP. Hayes said, "Everybody says they are going to come in with a chip on their shoulder. I don’t do the chip thing. I’m happy to be here. If you play with anger, you’re going to mess up some kind of way." He also thinks he has the tools to be a great NFL player, and Coach Jon Gruden said, "He has athletic ability. He’s what’s advertised. He’s going to be a good contact player, I think, when we start putting the pads on. He’s instinctive. He has good functional speed. He appears natural and comfortable in this defense. We’re excited by that. But for all these guys, it’s a big learning curve."
Aqib Talib, CB Saturday 5/3, 8:42 AM CT
Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden has hinted newly-drafted rookie CB Aqib Talib could be a factor at receiver on the offensive side of the ball this season, according to Pro Football Weekly.
