Roger Mcintosh, LB Thursday 5/8, 3:20 PM CT
Linebacker Rocky McIntosh (major knee surgery) remains on pace to be ready for training camp, according to NFL.com. Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn was the source for this information.
Clinton Portis, RB Thursday 5/8, 11:20 AM CT
Running back Clinton Portis sat out of the Washington Redskins final mini-camp practice due to a strained hip flexor, according to the Washington Times.
Jason Campbell, QB Thursday 5/8, 11:17 AM CT
Quarterback Jason Campbell said he expects to be 100 percent in a couple of weeks, according to the Washington Times. "I just pulled my hamstring a little bit," said Campbell, who last year missed the final three-plus regular-season games and the wild-card loss at Seattle with a dislocated left kneecap. "I won't be running for a while."
Jason Campbell, QB Wednesday 5/7, 8:29 PM CT
Washington QB Jason Campbell has suffered what the team believes to be a minor hamstring injury, according to the Washington Post.
Jason Campbell, QB Wednesday 5/7, 3:50 PM CT
Quarterback Jason Campbell tweaked his hamstring during Wednesday's practice, according to ESPN. Head coach Jim Zorn said Campbell's legs have been feeling the effects of practicing a more compressed stance, something the coach hopes will give the quarterback more maneuverability. "I have him sinking down a little bit," Zorn said. "It's a change, and so I was kind of excited about it -- not that he tweaked his hamstring but just the fact that different things are happening."
Antwaan Randle El, WR Wednesday 5/7, 3:46 PM CT
Washington Redskins receiver Antwaan Randle El, with crutches under both arms, said the surgery on his right knee went as expected and that he hopes to return to the field for offseason practices next month, according to ESPN. Randle El said the knee was swollen after minicamp practice Saturday. A MRI found loose cartilage, possibly the residual effects of getting the knee banged in a couple games last season, and he had arthroscopic surgery Monday. "The big thing is get it done now and not have it happen during training camp," Randle El said.
Antwaan Randle El, WR Tuesday 5/6, 8:22 PM CT
The Washington Redskins report WR Antwaan Randle El has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery today and should be fully recovered by the start of training camp, according to the Associated Press.
Antwaan Randle El, WR Tuesday 5/6, 1:09 PM CT
Wide receiver Antwaan Randle El underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday and is expected to return for the Washington Redskins' second session of organized team activities that start in June, according to the Washington Post. Randle El, who sat out the start of organized team activities on Monday because of his knee injury, had what head coach Jim Zorn described as a "fairly minor" procedure to remove floating cartilage in his knee. "He'll be here for the next set of OTAs," said Zorn. ”This should be a three to four-week deal, I think. I haven't heard any report. This is just what the preliminary thoughts were when they went in."
Fred Davis, TE Monday 5/5, 2:12 PM CT
Rookie tight end Fred Davis has spoken with head coach Jim Zorn, apologizing for oversleeping and missing the team’s final minicamp practice on Sunday. The organization said the matter would be handled internally, according to the Washington Post. After the Redskins completed their first OTA on Monday at Redskins Park, Vinny Cerrato, Washington's executive vice president of football operations, said that Davis got the message. "The biggest thing is, as long as they learn from their mistakes, that's the biggest thing," Cerrato said. "The kid felt awful. Jim got a chance to talk to him and Jim's handling it internally. I've talked to his agents and the kid feels horrible, which he should. Anytime you miss anything, to me it's important. Especially when you're here to ... he's making his first impression. Do what's right. He made a mistake. Now, he's got to fight back from the mistake."
Jason Campbell, QB Monday 5/5, 1:52 PM CT
Jason Campbell fits the profile to be the Washington Redskins quarterback; however, this match is not apparent because of his prototype size or live arm, but due to the fact that he is familiar with the West Coast scheme, according to USA Today. "I ran the West Coast my senior year at Auburn," Campbell said after the first minicamp practice on Friday. "A lot of the things we're doing, I've seen it before."
Fred Davis, TE Sunday 5/4, 2:28 PM CT
Rookie second-round draft pick Fred Davis did not show up for minicamp practice Sunday, prompting the Redskins to send security officials to find him, according to the AP. Coach Jim Zorn said, "Everybody was scouring. Nobody heard from him, so there was one of two scenarios. Either there was some real trouble and we needed to find him, or he screwed up. I haven’t even got to talk to him yet. I know he has been found. I believe it is more in the ‘I screwed up’ category."
Anthony Mix, WR Friday 5/2, 2:15 PM CT
Wide receiver Anthony Mix received several repetitions with the first team during the Washington Redskins first minicamp practice, often playing as the third receiver with Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El, according to the Washington Post. The Play of the Day came during 7-on-7 drills, when Jason Campbell dropped back and found Mix down the right sideline in the back of the end zone. With a corner in his face, Mix bobbled the ball after a deflection, but hauled it in one-handed. He was out of bounds by the time he got control and nearly sprinted into the woods behind the field, but head coach Jim Zorn had already sprinted 10 yards down the field and screamed encouragement at Mix for the catch.
Jason Campbell, QB Friday 5/2, 9:52 AM CT
New head coach Jim Zorn admits that he would like to have more of the offense in place at this point, but that learning how to be a head coach and preparing for last week’s draft got in the way of him achieving that goal, according to Pro Football Weekly. As a result, Zorn will offer up a “minicamp book” of offensive plays that the team will incorporate into this weekend’s five practices. Zorn said that base of plays should be a good foundation for rookie players such as receivers Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly and tight end Fred Davis, once they rejoin the team during organized training activities later in the offseason.
Carlos Rogers, DB Thursday 5/1, 2:22 PM CT
Carlos Rogers is not expected to participate fully in the May 2-4 mini-camp, according to HogsHaven.com. Rogers is recovering from knee ligament surgery, and his availability for training camp and preseason is also uncertain. Rogers has targeted the 2008 season opener for his return, though.
