Marian Hossa (groin) returned to action Tuesday and played 20 minutes. He didn't figure in the scoring - the entire Atlanta club was shut out - and was minus-2 for the night.

Marian Hossa tested his strained groin by working out Saturday. However, he remained sidelined for that evening's game, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said he might be able to return to action on Tuesday. Nonetheless, even though the Thrashers are off to an 0-5 start to the season, they can't risk having Hossa's groin injury turn into a long-term issue, so expect them to be very cautious with their star.

Thrashers forward Marian Hossa was scratched from Wednesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators because of a groin injury. Hossa was injured on Monday during practice.

Marian Hossa (groin) didn't practice Tuesday and isn't expected to play Wednesday against Ottawa. The team would prefer to hold him out and not have the injury linger any longer than it has to.

Marian Hossa is in no rush to sign a long-term deal with Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "My priorities are not focused on my contract," Hossa said. "I'm here to work on the ice. My agent, that's basically what I pay him to do. ... I'm going to have lots of questions, the same questions asked. I don't mind." The Thrashers are still anxious to get a contract done before the season begins, but it remains to be seen if that will happen.

Marian Hossa notched an assist against the Capitals Monday night giving him points in 11 straight games, extending his Thrashers record. He has seven goals and 11 assists over that stretch.

Marian Hossa is expected to play Sunday, despite the knee injury he aggravated on Friday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. X-rays taken during the game came back negative, and he was diagnosed with a bruise.

Marian Hossa missed part of the second period Friday after tweaking his knee, though he was able to return for the third period and overtime, the AP reports. Hossa finished the night with two points and six shots on goal in 16 minutes.
