Dan Cloutier stopped 38 of 40 shots on Monday night though it wasn't enough as the Kings fell to the Canucks 2-1 in OT. Cloutier really needed a strong outing given the recent hot play of rookie Erik Ersberg since Dan had allowed at least four goals in three straight starts before tonight. Ersberg still appears to be in the lead for starts, but Cloutier is the veteran and he was borderline brilliant on Monday which won't hurt his chances of playing at all.

So much for the solid return to the NHL that he was working on as Dan Cloutier allowed five goals on just 27 shots on Thursday night. Cloutier has now allowed an abysmal 10 goals on his last 44 shots, and for those of you without a calculator that is a .773 SV%, and that isn't a good mark for an 11-year-old.

Dan Cloutier will be between the poles tonight when the Kings face off against the Oilers in Edmonton, this according to LA Daily News. It will be Cloutier's fifth start of the season.
February 22, 2008
Dan Cloutier stopped 32 of 33 shots on Thursday night in just his third appearance of the season for the Kings. Cloutier has now stopped 81 of 87 shots, a .931 SV%, as he tries to recapture the form that marked him as a 30-game winner three straight seasons (2001-04). Jason Labarbara owners should be concerned about Cloutier's work since his recall as even when his groin heals it appears that Cloutier might eat into his workload.
