Kevin Weekes got his first start in goal on Monday against the Buffalo Sabres. He was starting in place of Martin Brodeur, who recently injured his elbow. He allowed two goals on 30 shots as New Jersey fell 2-0.

Kevin Weekes, who underwent surgery in late May to re-attach the biceps muscle in his left arm, is nearing a return to the ice, according to The Star Ledger. "He says he's ready to go," said HC Brent Sutter said. "He says he's fine. We'll obviously monitor everything closely."

Kevin Weekes took a loss in a rare start Saturday and tweaked his groin in the process. "I'm fine. I just felt a little tweak," Weekes said, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. "Hopefully it's nothing too serious. It's not specifically the groin. It's the outer mid-part of my leg." As Marty Brodeur's backup, Weekes was making just his first start since Dec. 10, so even if he misses time with an injury ... he won't actually be missed.
