Daniel Briere suffered a strained left hip flexor in the first period of Monday's preseason win over Toronto, according to the Buffalo News. Briere didn't return to the game, but the injury is not believed to be serious. "Danny's got a little bit of a hip flexor pull, so we just kept him out of the game," Ruff said. "He'll be all right in a couple of days. We don't anticipate anything too serious. He may miss [today's practice]. If it's bothering him, we'll keep him off the ice."

The Sabres accepted an arbitrator's ruling of a one-year, $5 million to Daniel Briere, according to the AP. Briere recorded 28 goals and 33 assists in just 48 games last season. He was sidelined for a good portion of the season with a sports hernia.
