Daniel Briere scored the first hat trick of his NHL career Tuesday night. It stopped his four-game pointless streak, the longest stretch he's gone all season without scoring.

Daniel Briere suffered a strained left hip flexor in the first period of Monday's preseason win over Toronto, according to the Buffalo News. Briere didn't return to the game, but the injury is not believed to be serious. "Danny's got a little bit of a hip flexor pull, so we just kept him out of the game," Ruff said. "He'll be all right in a couple of days. We don't anticipate anything too serious. He may miss [today's practice]. If it's bothering him, we'll keep him off the ice."
