Blues goalie Manny Legace says he detests the preseason, and he says he is ready to prove he is the team's No. 1 goalie despite their acquisition of goalie Chris Mason, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I've got to earn it, too. I can't sit here and say, 'I'm the No. 1 guy' ... you've got to earn it. Mason is a No. 1 guy in the league, too. If I don't play well, he'll be right there," Legace said.

Now that his knee is healthy again, Manny Legace will fight to remain the Blues' top goalie, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He had off-season surgery to remove two bone spurs, and states his knee is at 98 percent heading into training camp. He will battle Chris Mason for the starting gig, and Legace said, "I'm going to go out and make them have a decision to make, if they want to re-sign me or let me go to free agency. I'll just try to have a year like last year and make them make a decision, do the best I can for the team. I don't want to play one more year. I want to play five or six more years in St. Louis. I'd love to stay here and give the fans something they deserve."

Manny Legace will have to battle for playing time with newly acquired Chris Mason, but the club expects Legace to continue to hold down the top spot, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. "They're our goaltenders, and if Manny plays as well as he has in the past, he'll get lots of playing time," GM John Davidson said. "Chris is going to come in and help us, and if they push each other, that's wonderful.

Manny Legace recorded his fifth shutout of the season, and 27th of his career, in leading the Blues to a 3-0 victory over the Blue Jackets. Legace's numbers have really fallen since the all-star break including a 2.67 GAA in 28 games before today, but a five shutout, 27 win season from your goaltender certainly are numbers you can live with.

Legace has now allowed at least four goals in three of his last 10 starts, though in the other seven outings he held opponents to two or fewer goals in what has become a fairly uneven season of late for the Blues netminder.

Manny Legace came in relief of Hannu Toivonen who allowed four goals in 15 shots on Saturday night against the Stars. Legace faired better allowing only two goals on eight shots, but Legace has been abysmal of late allowing 12 goals on his last 55 shots (.782 SV%), and the team has to be growing very worried about Legace's sudden inability to stop the puck.

Manny Legace suffered an arm injury during the first period of Wednesday’s 6-1 loss to the Blackhawks. Although he left the game after the period, head coach Andy Murray told the AP that he expects Legace to start when the Blues play again on Saturday.
