Peter Schaefer was put on waivers, and should he clear, he will be sent to the minor leagues, according to the Providence Journal. Also, the team put Nate Thompson and Jeremy Reich on waivers, but will be sent to the minors, Matt Hunwick has been assigned to the minors, and forward Carl Soderberg has been assigned to his club in Sweden.

The Boston Herald reports the Bruins are trying to trade Peter Schaefer, who is due $2.1 million this season. If Blake Wheeler makes the team, the team will likely have to waiver Schaefer.

Peter Schaefer was held out of Wednesday's win, his sixth straight absence from the lineup, notes Boston.com. Schaefer is suffering from a leg injury and currently isn't expected to receive much ice time or fantasy value moving forward.

Peter Schaefer practiced Monday but said he didn't think he'd be ready for any of the next three games, according to the Boston Globe. He's missed the last four games with a contusion on his shin.

Peter Schaefer sustained a cut on his shin Tuesday when he blocked a shot, according to the Boston Globe. "There's always a risk of infection with those," said coach Claude Julien. "So you've got to be careful." Schaefer didn't travel with the Bruins to Buffalo for Friday's game, so keep him on your benches tonight.
