Evgeni Nabokov finished second in the voting for the Vezina Trophy, which went to Martin Brodeur, according to the Mercury News. Nabokov said, "I try not to be too disappointed because you really have no control over these things when other people are voting. But I'm going to use this as motivation to push myself even harder and have a better season next year."

Evgeni Nabokov played one of the best games of his life on Sunday night but it wasn't enough as the Sharks fell to the Stars 2-1 in quadruple OT. Nabokov stopped 53 of 55 Dallas shots and finished the playoffs with a 2.18 GAA.

The San Jose Sharks are looking at goalie Evgeni Nabokov , a Vezina Trophy candidate and often-stout tender that brings the Sharks to the top of their game, to step it up and take the lead as Sharks host the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference semifinals tonight, according to the Mercury News. The Stars lead the series 1-0, coming off a 3-2 OT win in Game 1 that led both Nabokov and winger Devin Setoguchi to question the team's heart. After skipping on the post-game news conference, Nabokov stated, "I just didn't have much to say. Sometimes you just have to let it go. I don't think we played a bad game. We just didn't have that extra... I don't know what the word is." Setoguchi stepped in to offer the word, "Drive."

Evgeni Nabokov is a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, given to the league's best goaltender. The Sharks goalie posted a league-best 46 wins this past season. He managed six shutouts and a 2.14 GAA.

Evgeni Nabokov made 21 saves in his sixth career postseason shutout and the Sharks' defeated the Calgary Flames 2-0 on Thursday night. The series is now all square at one game apiece. Nabokov, the All-Star who led the NHL with 46 regular-season was outstanding in a must game win for the Sharks.

Evgeni Nabokov had a shutout going on Sunday against the Stars when he was pulled in favor of Brian Boucher. There were no indications that Nabokov was injured and most reports believe the goalie was pulled due to the tempo of the game. Attitudes were rampant on Sunday. There were 21 penalties and three fights, plus a two misconducts in the ice contest. Coach Ron Wilson was fearful that one of the Dallas skaters would take an unnecessary shot at their star keeper.

Evgeni Nabokov was a surprise starter for the Sharks on Thursday night as HC Ron Wilson decided to let him go for the single season win record, this according to the team's Official Website. Nabokov has 46 wins on the year meaning he would have needed to win both of the Sharks final two games to tie Martin Brodeur's single season record. Since the Sharks lost last night to the Kings there is no way that Nabokov can tie the record now, so perhaps the Sharks will rest their workhorse for the final game of the regular season before the grind of the playoffs begin.

Evgeni Nabokov will be on the bench for the Sharks on Thursday night when they take on the Kings, this according to the AP. “I wouldn’t play him just to tie Brodeur’s record,” head coach Ron Wilson said. “The plan now is for (backup Brian) Boucher to play in LA and (Nabokov) in Dallas. (The plan has) been in place for a while." Nabokov has to be at the top of playoff goalies this spring, perhaps the top goalie, but it's a smart move for the Sharks to give him a bit of a rest for what they hope will be a long playoff run.

Evgeni Nabokov, who won his 46th game on Tuesday night, will not get a chance to tied the NHL single season record for wins (48) as he will be rested in one of the team's last two games, this according to the Mercury News. In order to prepare for the playoffs, the team will give one start to Brian Boucher and the other to Nabokov who has appeared in 75 of the Sharks 80 games this season. For those of you in playoff pools, it will be exceedingly difficult to chose a goalie other than Nabokov.
March 30, 2008
Evgeni Nabokov notched his 45th win of the season on Sunday night as he stopped 19-of-20 shots by Phoenix in a 3-1 final. He has not lost a game since February 18, when the Islanders slipped three goals past him.
March 22, 2008
Evgeni Nabokov picked up an NHL leading 43rd victory on Friday night as he stopped 12 of 13 shots that were directed at him. Amazingly, the Sharks held the Ducks without a single shot over the final 20 minutes of the game. Nabokov is 12-0-1 in his last 13 starts and he has allowed two or fewer goals in 11 of those 13 games.

Evgeni Nabokov rebounded from the last game when he was injured by playing inspired hockey on Thursday night in the Sharks 3-1 victory. Nabokov stopped 26 of 27 shots on the night including several fantastic saves on breakaways. Since the Sharks will continue to play him almost every game the rest of the way, there is no reason to think that Nabokov won't go well past the 40-win mark this season, he currently has 32, marking him as one of the top-3 goalies in the league.
February 18, 2008
Evgeni Nabokov needed stitches to his nose after a puck broke the facemask on his helmet. After going to the locker room in the second period, Nabby returned in the third period and allowed all three Isles goals. Perhaps the Sharks should have just stuck with Tom Greiss who made just his second appearance of his career. Nabokov looked shaky in the third, though the Sharks have a day off on Tuesday before resuming their 8-game road trip on Wednesday.
February 15, 2008
Evgeni Nabokov, who leads all goalies in minutes played and victories, stopped 15 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. Nabokov suffered his 18th loss of the season.
