Updating a previous report, Simon Gagne didn't suffer three concussions this year, he actually suffered only one that never healed according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer. "It's one concussion," Gagne said Dr. James Kelly, a concussion specialist, told him. "It got worse and worse. Every time I was getting hit to the head, the symptoms were coming back." Obviously this is why that Gagne has been shut down for the rest of the season. There is every reason to expect a 100% recovery for Gagne, but given that everyone deals with concussions differently, he will be monitored closely before he is allowed to absorb any physical contact in the future.

Simon Gagne is officially out for the rest of the season, the result of what was originally believed to be three concussions. However, there was actually only one concussion that never fully healed according to a report on NHL.com. "Technically, I will be done for this year," Gagne said Thursday night. "I don't think I will be back this year. I think it will be fair to say I'll play next year." Even if the team reaches the playoffs, the decision has been made to shut down Gagne for the entire season no matter how long it lasts. Gagne finishes the year with seven goals and 18 points in 25 disappointing games.

Simon Gagne is probably done for the year because of multiple concussions. Concussion specialist James Kelly suggested to Gagne Wednesday that the winger sit out the remainder of the season. "His advice to Simon was to shut it down for the remainder of the season," GM Paul Holmgren said in the AP. "As soon as we have had the opportunity to speak further with Dr. Kelly and Simon we can shed more light on this. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with this news." It's probably safe to go ahead and cut Gagne loose if you haven't already.

Simon Gagne is scheduled to see a specialist in Denver on Wednesday to find out if he can play again this season, according to Philly.com. Gagne suffered his third concussion last Sunday in Pittsburgh and will not be cleared to play for at least a week, and as mentioned in the report, could miss the remainder of the season.

He was injured on his first shift of the Flyers' 4-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday and sat out the final two periods. Gagne, who has seven goals and 18 points in 25 games, was examined Monday by the Flyers team doctor. "I don't think the season is lost right now," Gagne said. "Hopefully, I'm not going to have any more symptoms coming up. The way I feel right now is just a balance problem. When this goes away, I will be pretty much symptom free." Gagne suffered a concussion on Oct. 24, sat out four games, then had another concussion on Nov. 7 and missed the next 26 games.

The 27-year-old Gagne, who didn't play the final two periods, missed 26 games with dizziness after taking a hit from Florida's Jay Bouwmeester in the Flyers' 4-3 setback to the Panthers on October 24.
