The Lightning signed Brad Richards to a new five-year, $39 million contract instead allowing him to become a restricted free agent on July 1, according to the AP. The $7.8 million average annual salary is more than twice the $3.4 million he made while leading the Lightning in scoring this season.

The Tampa Tribune reports that the Lightning plan to announce Monday that they've come to terms with Brad Richards on a new contract. He was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
