Dominik Hasek has retired on Monday, according to ESPN.com. "The Dominator" played for 16 NHL campaigns, but noted that he lacked the motivation to return for another year. He said, "I don't feel today that I'm ready to compete on the highest level. Not because of the physical things, but because I need motivation every day."

Dominik Hasek isn't pleased with his backup status, although he realizes Chris Osgood is on a hot streak. "That's the way it is," Hasek tells the Toronto Sun. "It's definitely disappointing, especially because I feel well. Like I've said many times, I'm ready to go any time. But the team is playing very well, we're winning. Ozzie is doing a great job for us. So I understand."

Dominik Hasek's future with Detroit is uncertain, according to the Detroit News. He is 43-year's old and has taken a back seat in favor of Chris Osgood through the playoffs. He has not mentioned retiring, and GM Ken Holland said, "If the passion is there, why can't he play?"

As expected, Dominik Hasek will start in goal over Chris Osgood for the Red Wings in Game 1 of their series against the Predators, this according to the Tennessean. Hasek owns an amazing 1.99 GAA in 115 career playoff games, and despite being 43 years old he managed a 2.17 GAA during the regular season this year.

Dominik Hasek was solid between the pipes on Sunday as he stopped 27-of-28 shots in a 4-1 win over Chicago. He improved his record to 27-10, and he is now 8-2 over his last 10 games.

Dominik Hasek allowed three goals on the first six shots he faced on Wednesday night which resulted in him being lifted from the game in favor of Chris Osgood (who stopped 19 of 22 shots). The Wings keep saying they want to go with Hasek in the playoffs, and he has won seven of his last nine decisions, but he continues to allow more goals than we are used to with four of his last six outings resulting in three or more goals allowed.

Dominik Hasek is considered to be doubtful for Sunday's game because he's still ill, according to the Detroit Free Press. He's taking antibiotics and probably won't be between the pipes until at least Wednesday. However, Hasek is slated to be the starting goalie once the postseason begins, bumping Chris Osgood to a reserve role.

The Red Wings on Monday recalled goalie Jimmy Howard on an emergency basis from their AHL affiliate. Hasek has a stellar 24 wins against nine losses this season. Chris Osgood will receive the start in goal tonight with Dominik Hasek still nursing a sore back. Hasek left practice early on Wednesday after tightening up, this according to the Detroit Free Press. "I don't think it's anything serious," Hasek said. "I just didn't feel well on the ice. I'd like to be back tomorrow; if not, for sure on the weekend." Osgood was terrific in his last performance and the Red Wings seem to have turned around an early March slump.

Dominik Hasek stopped 18 of 19 shots on Wednesday night to pick up his 21st victory of the season against just 11 loses (eight in regulation). Word out of Detroit is that Hasek will likely play 10 of the team's last 15 games to prepare himself for the playoffs, and why wouldn't he play considering he has a 2.06 GAA on the year?

Dominik Hasek saved 22 of 24 shots Sunday in the Red Wings' 4-2 victory over Buffalo. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Hasek. With Chris Osgood coming down down to earth, Hasek should get the majority of playing time for Detroit down the stretch.

Dominik Hasek is set to return to action and start Friday's game, according to the Detroit Free Press. "I need to practice well, and I need to play," he said. "I would say I need to play twice a week to get into a rhythm (for the playoffs)." The Dominator has been out for a few weeks with a hip flexor injury. He'll probably get his wish and see action a couple of times each week the rest of the way.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock showed a little heart for fantasy owners on Sunday when he said he plans to rotate Dominik Hasek and Chris Osgood every other game until at least the 60th game of the season, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Red Wings have played 43 contests thus far. Assuming both netminders can stay healthy, it appears fantasy owners can safely start Hasek or Ozzy every other game.
