April 7, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo returned to the San Jose lineup after missing six contests with a spinal/neck injury. The winger scored his 23rd goal of the season in a 4-2 loss to Dallas.
April 6, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo is expected to play on Sunday, according to the Mercury News. He has been out since March 21 after taking an elbow to the head, and he will be a welcome addition back to the lineup.
April 5, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo is hopeful that he will be able to suit up for the Sharks final game of the regular season, this according to the San Jose Mercury News. Cheechoo has been out since March 21st after receiving an elbow to the head and the news has been very quiet as to his prognosis. If Cheechoo doesn't play on Sunday it would be wise to drop him considerably in your playoff pools as head/neck injuries can obviously linger.
April 2, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo, out the past 10 days due to a cheap shot elbow to the back of the head, returned to the ice for the first time on Tuesday, this according to the Mercury News. "It's getting better every day," Cheechoo said. Its shocking that the league didn't penalize Chris Kunitz for the dirty hit. If Cheechoo had been on a Canadian team, we would posit that Kunitz would have been suspended for five games, but with little in the way of complaints in the media, the Kunitz hit went unpunished. Cheechoo should play one of the final two games of the year and he appears on track to be ready to go in the playoffs.
March 6, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored as goal with less than three minutes left on Wednesday night to send the Sharks game to OT against the Senators before they eventually triumphed 3-2. Unless your name is Alexander Ovechkin, you simply aren't a hotter scorer than Cheechoo who now has 16 goals in his last 23 games.
March 4, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored a goal and added two assists in the Sharks 6-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Cheechoo has 31 points on the season, twenty of those goals.
February 27, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored for the fourth straight game on Wednesday night for the Sharks. Cheechoo has been on absolute fire of late with 14 goals in 19 games as he is finding new ways to score almost every game. The choo-choo train is back for the Sharks.
February 21, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored his 12th goal in 17 games on Thursday night in the Sharks 3-1 victory over the Flyers. Cheechoo is now up to 17 goals on the season which just goes to show you how awful he was at the start of the year. There are few options on skates right now that are hotter than Cheechoo, and as long as he stays on a line with Joe Thornton, there is every reason to expect him to continue to pile up the goals the rest of the way.
February 17, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored the team's only goal in Sunday's loss to the Rangers. He now has five goals and seven total points over seven games in February. Cheechoo has generally had a disappointing season, but a strong finish could make up for lost time.
February 9, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored a hat-trick, the ninth of his career, in the Sharks 4-3 victory over the Predators. Cheechoo almost scored his 4th goal in the game with just over a minute left, but it was still a great outing (he also had an assist). Jonathan, who was simple horrid at the start of the season, has finally gotten over his leg issues (he had off-season surgery), and his touch has returned. Don’t look now, but there are few scorers in the NHL who have been hotter of late than Cheechoo who has been scoring like crazy since returning to Joe Thornton’s lone with nine goals in 11 games.
January 25, 2008
Jonathan Cheechoo scored two power-play goals in the third period of Thursday's win over St. Louis. Perhaps Cheechoo is finally going to snap out of his funk, getting more time with center Joe Thornton (who assisted on both tallies).
