The Hurricanes may have ended in a loss, but goalie Cam Ward did all he could to overcome the failures and push his team to a win. Ward posted 42 saves on 44 shots in regulation play only to fall one save short in the shootout. Ward has lived through some ups and downs in recent weeks, but Ward appears to have the skills to become much better with experience.

Cam Ward enjoyed another strong performance for the Carolina Hurricans, helping his team to a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers. Ward posted a save percentage of 91.176% this evening, turning 31 of 34 total shots aside. Ward has been a bit up and down this season, so this game offers a hopeful sign of better (and more consistent) days ahead. Ward is still very young (24) and the former 1st-round draft pick has plenty of room to grow and become the top keeper we know he can be.
