October 23, 2008
Ottawa coach Craig Hartsburg has said that backup goaltender, Alex Auld, could earn more playing time if he plays well Saturday against Anaheim, according to Sun Media. Hartsburg has felt that Gerber has been giving up too many early goals, and thinks that some of them could have been prevented.

Martin Gerber will start tonight against the Florida Panthers, according to the Ottawa Citizen.
October 15, 2008
Martin Gerber will get the starting nod between the pipes for Friday's game against the Coyotes, according to the Ottawa Citizen. Gerber will start over Alex Auld, but coach Craig Hartsburg noted that Gerber needs to get the bad goals out of his system.
October 11, 2008
Goalie Martin Gerber stopped 38-of-41 shots but ended up taking a loss to the Red Wings on Saturday night.
October 7, 2008

Martin Gerber stopped 26-of-30 shots in Saturday's 4-3 preseason loss to the Penguins.
September 27, 2008
Senators goalie Martin Gerber played well in his team's 3-1 win over the Canadiens. Gerber stopped 18 of the 19 shots Montreal threw at him.
April 14, 2008
Martin Gerber's tough postseason continues. He stopped 34-of-38 shots on Monday and took his third straight loss against the Penguins. Gerber has allowed four goals in each of the three games.
April 11, 2008
Martin Gerber may not have picked up the win on Friday, but he did just about everything he could to lead the Senators as he made 49 saves on the 53 shots he faced. Another loss for Gerber in the playoffs, but this one can hardly be laid at his feet as his team played soft defense in front of him.
April 10, 2008
Martin Gerber was hoping to put past playoff failures behind him, but he was unable to do so in Game 1 as he allowed the Penguins to score four goals in 35 shots. Gerber wasn't awful on the night, and it's clear that backup Ray Emery is completely out of favor with the club, but if Gerber struggles in Game 2 there would appear to be a shot for Emery to reemerge as the team's top option in net a year after he led the squad to the Stanley Cup Finals.
April 9, 2008
With the team missing Daniel Alfredsson up front, the pressure is squarely on the shoulders of goal keeper Martin Gerber, this according to the Ottawa Sun. Can Gerber handle the spotlight? In eight career playoff appearances he owns a horrific 13.53 GAA. Certainly he will be better than that, but he will likely have to also be substantially better than the 2.72 GAA he produced in the regular season this year if the team is to make it past the Penguins.
April 3, 2008
Martin Gerber will make his 16th straight start in net for the Senators on Thursday, this according to the Ottawa Citizen. With their recent stretch of ineffective play, the Senators need three points in their final two games to guarantee a playoff spot.
March 25, 2008
Martin Gerber will start on Tuesday against Buffalo, according to The Gazette. He holds a 28-15 mark, but has allowed eight goals over his last two outings.
March 23, 2008
Martin Gerber will make his 11th straight start in net for the Sens against the Canadiens on Monday. Gerber has 28 wins to 15 losses on the season.
March 13, 2008
Martin Gerber has been playing very well as of late and collected a shutout in a big 3-0 win over Montreal Thursday night, while making 28 saves. He has now won three straight games while only allowing three total goals over that span.
March 13, 2008
Senators head coach Bryan Murray, who has ridden his hot goalie this season, told the Ottawa media network on Wednesday night that he would play Martin Gerber on Thursday. Ottawa plays an important game tonight against Montreal. It will mark Gerber's seventh consecutive start. The net controversy between Gerber and Ray Emery appears to have been settled, with Emery and his attitude out. Gerber has won two straight and hasn't allowed more than three goals in any of his past five outings.
March 10, 2008
Martin Gerber hasn't officially been named the Senators starter in goal, but given the way he has played and been used of late (he will start his sixth straight game on Tuesday night), it is obvious that he is currently the teams top option in net. "It's always good when you get great goaltending," said coach Bryan Murray. "All the guys want is a chance to win." Ray Emery has just about worn out his welcome in Ottawa anyway, so it appears that the Sens will go with Gerber down the stretch in their attempt to establish themselves heading into the playoffs.
March 7, 2008
Martin Gerber made his fourth straight start for the Sens on Thursday night, and though he lost for the third time in those four outings he stopped 30 of 31 shots against the Kings before they scored an empty net goal late. Ray Emery has been a mess on and off the ice, so perhaps the Senators will end up turning to Gerber down the stretch and into the playoffs as he has played fairly well of late. Still, Emery could end up emerging as the starter though at this point it appears to be Gerber's job to lose.
March 5, 2008
Martin Gerber will make his third consecutive start for the Senators on Wednesday night, this according to the Ottawa Citizen. "At some point in the near future, I have to identify 'the' guy, I suppose, but right now I'm going to go with Martin," said HC Bryan Murray. The team has alternated between Gerber and Ray Emery for most of the last few months, and with all the trouble that Emery has caused this year it's a bit surprising the team has given him so many chances. If Gerber is impressive against the Sharks on Wednesday that could go a long way toward him securing a bigger role in net for the Sens.
February 29, 2008
Martin Gerber will start Saturday's game after Ray Emery lost Thursday's contest, according to the Ottawa Citizen. Former coach John Paddock had been leaning on Emery, but he was canned and replaced by Bryan Murray. He told reporters that he would make a decision on which goalie he'll use in the playoffs just before they start and not tell anyone who it is. From the sounds of it, we may have no idea who will be in goal from game to game the rest of the season. Stay tuned.
