The AP reports that the Nashville Predators have signed center Jerred Smithson to a two-year, $1.4 million contract extension through 2011. He has accounted for 45 points in 241 games since making his NHL debut with Los Angeles in 2002.

Jerred Smithson left Saturday's game in the first period with a leg injury, the AP reports. His status for the playoffs isn't known.

Jerred Smithson signed a one-year, $450,000 deal with the Predators Monday, according to the Tennessean. The contract has one-way status, meaning it's likely he'll remain on the NHL level instead of shuttling between Nashville and Milwaukee of the AHL.
