Huet was simply brilliant after being acquired at the trade deadline going 11-2-0 for the Caps with a phenomenal 1.63 GAA. It's hard to suggest ranking Huet very high in a fantasy pool as the Caps don't look like a good bet to advance very far, but then again, how many goalies are hotter than him right now?

February 29, 2008
Cristobal Huet made quite an impression in his first start with the Capitals Friday, pushing aside all 18 shots that came his way in a 4-0 win over New Jersey. The Caps are in a bit of a delicate situation, as Huet is playing much better than Olaf Kolzig, who's been with the team since the 80's. They'd be smart to give Huet the job if they want to make a playoff push, but it's certainly not a given that that's what they'll do.
February 28, 2008
Cristobal Huet will start in net for the Caps on Friday night, but the team will likely turn to Olaf Kolzig on Saturday, this according to the AP. This leaves Brent Johnson on the outside looking in as the third goaltender. However, there is no certainty when it comes to playing time over the team's final 18 games. “We take every day one day at a time,” HC Bruce Boudreau said. “If Huet’s unbelievable, then we’ll go with him Saturday.” Johnson is out of the mix to be sure, and conventional wisdom is that the team wouldn't have made the move to acquire Huet if they were going to sit him on the bench, but at this point it looks like the team would still like to keep Kolzig, its long time starter happy, so we will just have to see how the split in playing time occurs.
