Marc-Andre Fleury returned from a conditioning stint last week but is still feeling some lingering effects from his ankle injury. However, that doesn't mean he will reclaim his starting role from Ty Conklin. "Nothing has changed for us," coach Michel Therrien said. "Performance dictates ice time and that's not going to change." Conklin has been terrific since replacing Fleury, and it sounds like if he keeps playing the way he has the past two months that he will still be in the mix to be the team's number one option.

February 12, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury, out since Dec. 6 with a high ankle sprain, is expected to be in goal for the Penguins' Wilkes-Barre minor-league team tomorrow. He is scheduled to stay with the Baby Penguins for at least three games, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It could be a week, could be two weeks," GM Ray Shero said. "We'll see. [Goalie coach] Gilles Meloche is going down and will be with him most of the time. We'll just see how [Fleury] reacts. Not so much his wins and losses, but his conditioning, his timing, how he's handling the puck, the whole getting-back-into-the-game routine. When he feels comfortable, we'll make a decision as to what's best for him and best for us."
February 10, 2008
Marc-Andre Fleury was assigned to the AHL on Sunday in order to see some game action in his attempt to come back from his injured ankle that has sidelined him for 28 games. No timetable has been set yet for his return, but the real question will be if he regains his starting spot given the play of Ty Conklin who has stepped up big time to go 14-3-3 with a 2.22 GAA while Fleury has been out. Marc-Andre Fleury has swapped out his bright yellow pads for white ones, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "There's more and more goalies wearing white these days," Fleury said. "The guys tell me it makes it look a little bigger." Anything that can give a goalie an advantage is something he should try. Of course, he'll have to return from his ankle injury before we see if it makes any difference. We should have a better idea when he'll be on the ice again after the weekend, but it could be within the next couple of weeks.
February 2, 2008
The Penguins got some great news Friday. Marc-Andre Fleury was able to practice for the first time since sustaining a high-ankle sprain back in early December, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Pens haven't set a timetable, but he hopes to return to game action within the next 10-14 days. Obviously, he'll have to get in some more practice without any setbacks before that happens, but he's skating in the right direction.
