Ryan Malone will move up to the Tampa Bay Lightning's first line to play with Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Ryan Malone has agreed to a seven-year, $31.5 million contract with the Lightning, TSN.ca reports. His exclusive negotiating right were traded to the Lightning on Saturday. Malone notched 27 goals and 24 assists over 77 games for the Penguins last season.

The NHL free agent market is as fresh as can be, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have wasted no time getting busy, according to TSN.ca. TSN is reporting the Lightning have traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for the negotiation rights to forwards Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts, scheduled to become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

It appears that potential unrestricted free agent Ryan Malone may be paddling down the Ohio river into Columbus come draft day. The Penguins winger has garnered interest from several teams. However the Blue Jackets are more than willing to give up their second and third round picks in exchange for Malone, given that they already have two first round picks.

Forward Ryan Malone is not interested in being traded prior to July 1. He'd rather become an unrestricted free agent, and agent Mike Luit says his client might choose not to sign a deal if he is traded. "Ryan doesn't want to go down that road," Luit informs the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Blue Jackets are reportedly close to acquiring the rights to Ryan Malone, according to TSN.ca. The Penguins' forward is to become a unrestricted free agent on July 1, and Columbus is said to acquire his rights as soon as Tuesday.

Ryan Malone could be on the Oilers' radar, according to the Edmonton Journal. Oilers' GM Kevin Lowe may have contacted Pittsburgh Penguins' GM Ray Shero about unrestricted free-agent winger Ryan Malone. The Columbus Blue Jackets have also reportedly inquired about getting the rights to Malone, who has had two lowball offers and is certainly going to test the market on July 1.

Ryan Malone's agent, Mike Liut, had preliminary discussions with Penguins general manager Ray Shero regarding a new deal, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Not much was exchanged," Liut said. "We talked briefly during the regular season, too. They have a lot of free agents. They have a [salary] cap they have to deal with. They have a lot of things to think about. They have some really good young players there. One of the hallmarks of the new [collective bargaining] deal is sometimes you have to pick and choose. [The Penguins] are in the process of doing that."

Ryan Malone took a shot to the face in the second period on Monday night and left the game, the Ticker notes. The forward broke his nose in the series opener against the Red Wings. Malone returned to the bench to start the third period.

Ryan Malone scored two goals in the third period, including the game winner, on Friday night. Malone also added an assist in the win over the Senators. Pretty quietly this season Malone was able to score 27 times while contributing 103 PIM, so it would stand to reason that his gritty play would be successful in the playoffs.

Ryan Malone netted two pucks in the final four minutes as the Pittsburgh Penguins erased a two-goal third-period deficit for a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. Malone now has 35 points on the season, 19 of those coming by goals.
