Niklas Kronwall has been activated by the Wings on Thursday while they assigned Kyle Quincey to the minors to make room on the roster, this according to the AP. The Wings defense is a mess, so getting Kronwell back from his injured shoulder is a huge boost. Out since Late January, Kronwell figures to pick right up with his solid all-around game for the Wings. Activate him if you normally would for Friday's game with the Sharks.

Niklas Kronwall, out with a clavicle injury, continues to practice without contact. His return date is unclear, though it's unlikely he'll be able to play this weekend, according to the Detroit News.

The Red Wings placed defenseman Niklas Kronwall on injured reserve Monday with a left shoulder sprain he suffered on Jan. 30, according to the AP. Kronwall is a terrific defenseman who be missed by both the Red Wings and his fantasy owners until he's ready to return, which could be as early as next week. The Red Wings made the move now because they needed an extra roster spot to recall goaltender Jimmy Howard as insurance against Dominik Hasek's hip flexor injury.

Niklas Kronwall skated on his own before Monday's practice, but he said doctors have told him it'll be another two weeks before he can return to the lineup. "I was hoping to play in Toronto (Saturday) but it doesn't look like that's going to happen," Kronwall told the Detroit News. He's coming back from an injury to his clavicle.
