Niklas Kronwall returned from his groin injury last night, but the bigger news was that he inked a five-year, $15 million contract extension with the Red Wings earlier in the day, according to the Detroit Free Press. "I'm just happy to get a longtime deal," Kronwall said. "It's a sign that they believe in me. I feel really good here. I don't want to go anywhere else."

The Red Wings locked up Niklas Kronwall with a five-year, $15-million contract extension Friday that will keep the 25-year old with the team through the 2011-12 season, according to the Red Wings website. Kronwall, the team’s first pick in the 2000 draft, has three assists in 16 games this season.

"It's frustrating," said Kronwall, who'll miss his fourth consecutive game. "Hopefully I'll be able to go out there and practice Thursday, and be able to play (Friday)."
