Nolan Schaefer has been recalled by the Wild, according to the Associated Press.

The Penguins acquired Nolan Schaefer from San Jose Tuesday in exchange for a seventh- round pick in the 2007 NHL draft, according to Sports Network. Schaefer posted a 5-1-0 mark with a 1.88 GAA in seven games with the Sharks this season.

Because the Sharks were unable to trade either Evgeni Nabokov or Vesa Toskala before their opener against the Blues on Thursday, they had to place Nolan Schaefer on waivers, according to the AP. Any team could claim Schaefer, who won his first five starts for San Jose last season in limited duty, before Friday morning. If nobody picks him up, Schaefer would be assigned to the Sharks' top minor-league affiliate in Worcester, but that seems unlikely.
