The Carolina Hurricanes placed forward Erik Cole on the injured reserve list retroactive to Tuesday, after sustaining a neck injury on Monday. The Hurricanes also activated winger Andrew Ladd , who has missed 16 games with an ankle injury.

Andrew Ladd continues to work his way back from a sprained ankle. It sounds like he's making progress, as he's expected to resume skating this week, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. If all goes well once he hits the ice, Ladd could return shortly thereafter.

Andrew Ladd re-injured his ankle on Thursday, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. He's expected to miss at least another week of action due to the problem.
