Teppo Numminen won't be ready to return to action in time for Tuesday's outdoor game against the Penguins. "Its too soon," Numminen said, according to the Buffalo News. "Im feeling good, but Im still week to week." He's been practicing, but it's going to be a little while longer before he returns from his heart surgery.

Teppo Numminen was cleared to resume practicing on Monday. The defenseman took part in his first skate on Thursday since undergoing heart surgery in September, according to the AP. Coach Lindy Ruff said he didn't expect Numminen to take part in a game for at least another month.

Teppo Numminen had successful open heart surgery Thursday to repair a faulty valve and hopes to be back on the ice within three months, the AP reports. "There were no complications," Sabres doctor William Hartrich said after speaking to the surgeon at The Cleveland Clinic. "Teppo is resting comfortably and will remain in the hospital for the next several days."

The Sabres suspended Teppo Numminen , who needs a third surgery to correct a heart problem, according to ESPN.com. The suspension is a financial move made to protect the teams financial investment. Technically, he was fined for not reporting to training camp in good physical condition.

Teppo Numminen signed a one-year contract with the Sabres on Wednesday. The deal is worth $2.6 million, according to ESPN.com. Numminen logged 29 points and a plus-17 rating last season.
