Fourth-year defenseman Doug Murray signed a four year extension with the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday according to the AP. He brings an ingredient of toughness in addition to the rest of his game, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said. Hes shown tremendous growth over the last few years, and we look forward to that continuing.

Doug Murray scored a goal in a losing effort, as San Jose fell to Calgary 4-3 on Sunday. That was his first point in the series.

Doug Murray, in just his second game back on the ice after a hip injury, was given a major penalty for boarding on Blake Comeau which resulted in his ejection. The league will review the tapes before decided on what punishment is needed. Murray has been a solid plus/minus skater (+17), and with 74 PIM he has some value in some circles though only seven assists on the year speaks to his limited offensive game.
