Wrigley Field in Chicago will be the scene of the NHL's annual outdoor game on January 1st in an event that will pit the Chicago Blackhawks against the Detroit Red Wings, according to NHL.com. "The NHL is delighted to bring its most historic rivalry to one of the most historic venues in sports," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said.

Jonathan Toews left Sunday's game early in the third period after getting elbowed by the Canucks' Matt Pettinger. Toews suffered a chipped tooth and will receive close to 50 stitches for a cut inside his mouth, according to SportsTicker. Coach Denis Savard said Wednesday that there was "no chance" that Jonathan Toews would return to action on Sunday. However, on Thursday, Savard reconsidered, according to the Chicago Tribune. Stay tuned for updates this weekend, but it's possible Toews could see plenty of action on the power play and killing penalties Sunday. He's been out since New Year's Day with a sprained knee, but he's been practicing for a week.
